Like most men, they like to work with their hands and repair things they know nothing about. It is like the story of how men will drive around and around and not stop to ask for directions .. while we woman, know when there are some things left up to others. But that is not my husbands story...we were given a dryer from my mother as ours was giving us problems. When they brought it downstairs.. my husband noticed that the prongs were all wrong for our outlet. So we left the dryer to the side and I forgot all about it. He was looking for things to on his day off.. and decided to help with the laundry. Later I got a call at work, "Hun.... the washer was plugged and theres water all over the floor" I told him to shut it off and make sure the drain was clear. I forgot to tell him the drain on the floor...... and not in the sink... but figured he would know. Later on .. I got another call at work from him. "Hun.. I think I got electricuted... what does it mean when your hand keeps tingling". "WHAT?? I Screamed... "What Happened"? Apparently he decided to go out and buy an electrical piece for that dryer sitting down stairs. He thought he had the right prong to install on it.. but wanted to see if it would plug in. Now you have to picture this in your mind... A large metal prong... attached to wires .. open ended and attached to nothing.. meaning wires exposed. here he is.. standing in water on the basement floor...(he did not know the drain on the floor was not clear to let the water run out earlier so was standing in it in barefeet!!) hand up to the outlet and plugging it in. He said his hand stuck to the outlet and he couldnt move it.. the metal on the prong melted and it took all the strength in his right hand to move up to try and pry his left hand off of it while he screamed "OH GOD!! HELP ME!!". He swears the metal dripped against his arm and onto the top counterpiece of our dryer. He went up stairs and phoned me. I told him he should go to the hospital and get checked out as his heart was beating fast, luckily a neighbour was home and took him. When I arrived home.. he was sitting there.. shaking his head.. saying I wouldnt believe what the Doctor said. They did an ECG on him and everything was normal, checked his head ... hands.. and feet.. to see if there was any place the electricity passed out of him from . The Doctor asked if he was an electrician by trade.. and sheepishly my husband told him "no"..... well.. you definitely have a "Guardian Angel Watching Over You".... because we know where the current went in to you.. we just dont know where the current went out of you. He was fine.. he didnt even have a burn mark on arm where the metal melted. I didnt believe him when he told me the story at first.. and then he took me downstairs to the basement. The water was still on the floor... and there was metal drippings burnt on the top of my dryer that was below the outlet. And the base of the prong.. was flat...... to this day.. we still talk about it... and are amazed to think he was left unhurt........ he should have died that day.... with that much electricity ... the water... How it changed my life:It makes you wonder about Guardian Angels.. and why things happen the way they do... How some people walk away from horrific accidents when there is no explaination as to how they could have possibly been okay from it.. as is in this case. I guess.. when our time is up.. we go.. when it isnt... we are saved.
